These are the boots I wear, I have three different pair.
One pair are chain saw boots that I wear in the trees and on the ground, the two in the picture are Royer pole climbers made in Canada and both are ohm rated.

I just bought a pair of the Hoffman Light Weight Climbing boots (combo of Danner boot/Hoffman sole and steel shank). I gotta tell you they are the cats ass of lineboots. They go up just past the ankle and are light cool and comfortable. I'm saving up to buy another pair! And they are gore-tex to boot. I can't say enough good about them. smilie_daumenpos[1].gif

I ended up getting the pair of Hall's I posted about earlier. I've been wearing them for about a week and they're pretty comfortable. Not bad to walk in, and not too hot either.

The Halls Customer Service people were really nice too. I ordered last Tuesday night, they shipped Wednesday, and I got them Thursday. They're union made, and made in PA too.

I have a skills orientation I'm going to in 1.5 weeks, and then the 80-hour pole climbing class is a month after that. So that'll be the real test biggrin.gif

I was wondering why a man would need so many different pair of boots, but you answered my question for me. I usually only have one good pair and a wore out pair, and thats it. Boots are too darn expensive to buy, but if I had too, i would. Are your Are those Rocky's comfortable? What would you suggest for a summer boot, light and airish.

Welp i decided to jump on to the June class at NLC the last minute. I called Hoffman up 3days before and got my boots the day before i left. Stiff as a heck for sure. Plenty of blisters that 1st week especially climbing with them not tightened up very much. Now they are beautiful. Ive went through 2 things on conditioner all ready.

We recently became a Wesco boot distributor and they are selling well. I didn't know who to go with, and we just wound up picking Wesco because they were johnny-on-the-spot when we asked for info. I am not a lineman, but I got a pair for demo purposes and I wear them everyday on the job both to generate questions about them and also to be able to give my personal input about them. It took about a week and a half to get them comfortable to wear, oiling them daily and now they are as comfortable as regular shoes although a bit on the heavy side. I got the heavy tread on the soles and I'm about an inch taller when I wear them!

The Wesco sales guys I keep seeing at the rodeos are very helpful and showed me how to do the custom fit procedure at the Texas Lineworkers Rodeo a few weeks ago. They are very nice boots and in my neck of the woods, they seem to be the most common I see, now that I'm paying attention.

That's my two cents....

All this...so I can go hunting.

My black Royers died this week, less than a year and half old.
The boot separated from the sole.
They were shipped back to the company via the shoe store where I bought them so we'll see what they do about it.

That's crappy. I will probably get a pair of feltpack Royer's for winter soon. If i was to buy another pair of boots they would most likely be Viberg's made in B.C. They seem to be a very solid boot.

Seeing how they were an american boot they do not have the standard CSA ratings on them but they are supposed to be electrical shock rated to 600V I think.
