Pistol? I always liked a BB gun, but nothing beats a good swing'n, fling'n squirrel chunkin' exhibition. I wonder if they could have a squirrel chunckin' contest at the the next line-man rodeo? I doubt you're gonna have any tree huggers crying about how inhumane the practice is at a line-man rodeo event lol.

I'm sure to be singing,
while squirrels are a flingin'
It's fun for a cable-man!

I love this time of year.. Little treerats running around gathering nuts and food..

Getting fatter and fatter.. Moving slower and slower..

Being run over by more and more vehicles..

I love this time of year... ernaehrung004[1].gif

I know this an old post, but, I had to comment and say I thought I was the only one who enjoyed doing this. Sort of payback and sweet revenge. I have enough job security without these things gnawing on the plant. Two calls ago I went on a return noise problem, at night , rear aerial of course. I'm looking for an LE and shine my light on the pole and the biggest racoon I've ever seen was sitting on the LE. Then it saw my light and started walking down the strand very slowly looking at me the entire time and all the while I'm thinking, I have to go up there in the dark with that big beast up there with me. There's a first for everything. I'm gald this site is here and know that were all the same, just different locations. Be safe.

smilie_daumenpos[1].gif Hey all... first time on the board here!!

Yeah, I've chunked a few... especially for the revenge factor.

Up on hooks, I was setting up an LE, and felt the tell-tale vibrations of a tree-rat. Before i had the chance to see where he was, he ran right up on me from my left, jumped to the pole and bounced back on the strand to my right. Almost jumped out of my hooks!! Voskl1[1].gif Before he got to midspan, I grabbed that line and gave him a whip that sent him to the roof of a nearby garage. He ran off chattering, but I'm sure he'll remember to avoid them guys in the white hats for a while 14_6_7[1].gif
Doin' it right the FIRST time...

Don't know how I missed awesome this thread but I have to revive it.
Have chunked a few tree rats the conventional way but I used to keep 2 sections of my lay up sticks assembled and in the back of the bucket. Caught many of the little buggers mid span and got the sticks hooked on the cable and strand to give em a ride. That was then and this is now though. Didn't realize the potential for damage to the cable at the time. Still it was fun!
