BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The winds really packed a punch that utility crews have to fix. Near hurricane force winds reeked havoc all across western New York Thursday morning, and they're not letting up. More than 50,000 households are still without power. Crews said they can't keep up.
Randy Edwards, Spokesman for NYSEG said, "The problems we're seeing is how widespread it is and how large it is."
Trees were down on power lines in parts of western New York, forcing firefighters to shut down part of route 5 and direct rush hour traffic. Everywhere you look, more trees down.
