Ok!

Got a Brinkmann as an early bday gift from the parents.

smilie_daumenpos[1].gif

Ribs on it at 220-250 for the last 4 hours now....They are spending the last hour in foil.

Before the start of the ribs though..... muuuhhhahahhaha

Fresh cut rib eyes.........

I went to the store to get a half rack of shiner and the dirties were out. I was pissed to say the least. I thought I was the only one here that drank shiner, but alas someone else has found my stash.... Must be a lineman!

Instead I picked up a half-rack of Black Butte.

Hope everyone has a great 4th .........and those grills and pits are a smokin'and the beer[1].gif beer[1].gif beer[1].gif is a freely flowin'................... 14_3_1[1].gif 14_3_1[1].gif

639 and I celebrated our 4th this past weekend at the cabin. Fried fish, shut-up dogs, fries, tater tots, onion rings.................our friend Jon bought some fresh corn. His mom fries it on the cob. So we dipped it in milk, then corn meal and plopped it in the hot grease. However, all the batter came off. Was still delicious......anyone know a way to batter it where it stays on while frying
??????

........also, we keep a spray bottle of olive oil, and every hour or so, spray the meat while it's smoking in the pit......the oil will keep it moist

apple juice also works great. put on a spicy dry rub with alot of pepper(red ,black, and white) and then smoke the ribs with applewood and pecanwood while spraying with apple juice, and you get a great sweet and spicy rib that melts off the bone

Yep, that olive oil is good stuff......Tex and Dragonfly gave us that little hint and we've kept a spray bottle handy for when we are smokin' on the pit.

Never heard of using apple juice, might just have to give it a try sometime.....thanks for the hint

nono.gif nono.gif Left him for the buzzards............this one really freaked me out.....usually I see them way ahead of time, but we had just rounded a curve and there he was stretched out on the road.....almost was on top of him before I could get the wheeler stopped and thrown in reverse Voskl1[1].gif By the time Bill got his 14_6_7[1].gif out to shoot him, that rattler had already bowed his back getting ready to curl up, but 639 blew his frickin' head off, and I was hysterical, puking off the back of the wheeler, almost to the point I was hyperventilating. Then I really went into orbit when he picked up what was left of it and it was still moving Voskl1[1].gif Voskl1[1].gif

Needless to say, had he taken him back to the cabin for dinner, there would have another shooting

I really got to hand it to you people that live in the south and how you deal with the posion snakes. It would be hard for me to let my kids(little ones) play outside. 14_3_1[1].gif

I've only seen 2 snakes this whole year, Bill saw a cottonmouth last weekend while we were doing some work where we are putting the new "Redneck Riviera" deer stand. However, I was sitting on the wheeler and never saw it, but I had his gun ready to go if I did.

That's why I wear my snake boots.......almost year round now. Last year in November, Bill ran over 2 up on the lease Voskl1[1].gif Voskl1[1].gif So when I went deer hunting, even when it was 20 degrees, I was still wearing them boots

My dogs handle the ones at the house for me, killed a 5 ft moccasin two weeks ago in my driveway... I much prefer to play with the snakes than deal with the wasps, hornets, bees and other flying stingers we have around here...snakes, I will flip them out of the way and keep going. Flying/stingers, I will hurt myself and everyone around me getting away from them.
If all else fails........smoke test it.
